Sunday Talk: Aviation Pioneer Anna Pennington

FREE EVENT! Join Cape Fear Museum as we celebrate the beginning of Women’s History Month! Curator Heather Yenco will explore the history of women in aviation and examine the life of Anna Pennington, a local aerial pioneer.

Anna’s family migrated to the United States in 1923 coming to Wilmington, NC. Always fascinated by airplanes, she received flying lessons for her 16th birthday, soloed in 1939 and earned her Private Pilot License in 1941. That began a lifelong involvement in aviation related activities.

During the talk, the Museum will display several Anna Pennington artifacts to include a leather flying helmet, goggles, pilot logs and more.
