2. Note:
   The grounds of the Arboretum are not available to host wedding ceremonies or receptions. Events, when the gardens are open to the public, are limited to 15 people or less and a reservation request is required. Small family picnics do not require a reservation. The picnic area is available on a first come, first served basis from 8am-5pm daily.
   
   As we are a teaching garden we do not allow ball games, or bikes to be ridden on the grounds. 

   
   

   School field trips require a chaperone to student ratio of 1/5 and require pre-approval. Group size is limited to 15 students. If you have more than 15 students, please complete another request form for a second field trip on a different day. 

   
   

   Personal photography sessions (graduation, engagement, family photos, etc.) during regular business hours do not require a reservation; photography requests for access to the gardens after 5pm should be submitted on this form and reservations may be available from 5-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday with applicable fee pending staff availability.

   
   

   For all events: we ask that you abstain from using balloons and single-use plastics and instead use items that are reusable, compostable or recyclable. Being a coastal city,  we recognize the importance of taking care of our environment and waterways and we encourage you to do your part too.

   
   

   Events that require closure of the Arboretum grounds to the general public are generally only allowed after 5 p.m. for qualifying organizations; a fee may be applicable. Please submit the request below for qualification and rates.

   Staff will review submissions and notify guests within 5 business days of the status of the request by email, with the director’s approval.

   
   

   Please keep in mind that throughout the year we may occasionally close the gardens for ticketed or private events. Please call the Arboretum (910) 798-7660 a few days prior to your visit to confirm availability.

    We invite you to work together with us to achieve the following environmental objectives for your event / meeting.

    Low Waste

    • No single-use disposable containers or serviceware including Styrofoam. Single-use compostable items are allowed.
    • Composting of organic matter, including food waste.
    • Recycling or reuse of paper, metal, and glass.
    • Personal refillable water bottles are encouraged.
    • Food that is left over from the event is to be donated to a charitable organization.
    • Source seasonal produce which has been sustainably grown and locally sourced as possible.
    • Encourage ride sharing to the event or the taking of public transportation.
    • Use paperless technology as much as possible for event information and speaker presentations
